TRANSFER NEWS: Fergie Claims Nasri Has Agreed To Leave Arsenal

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has agreed to join another club, however he won’t be heading to Old Trafford.

Nasri has strongly been linked with a move to United’s rivals City, with a £25m fee reportedly close to being agreed.  United were early favourites to sign Nasri this summer and apparently had a £20m offer turned down. Speaking after arriving in the US for United’s pre-season tour, Fergie claimed the Frenchman has already agreed to join another club but the club in question is not United:

“I don’t think he is coming to United,” said Ferguson.

“That is all I can tell you. I think that he has agreed to go somewhere else.”

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger said he fully expected Nasri to be at Arsenal next season, despite only having 1 year left on his current deal, and some have suggested the Londoners would be prepared to let the player run down the last year of his contract, something Ferguson feels would be a brave move by Wenger:

“That is his decision,” said Ferguson. “He is the manager.

“If he stands by that decision, it is a brave one. I don’t know if the (Arsenal) directors will enjoy that one, but it is possible.

“Maybe he will have to stay.”
