Four Players Who Have Impressed In Pre-Season For Liverpool

Following 2 consecutive victories in pre-season against Guangdong Sunray Cave and a Malaysian XI, today I’m assessing who has impressed me during pre-season.

Made a strong case for themselves:

David N’gog

Should actually be out of the team already, but he has certainly given Kenny Dalglish a bit of a headache here, following a goal against Guangdong and 2 against Malaysia last week. I had the opportunity to see the game live there and he put on quite a show. He even did a 360 and a cut back at one time and he was pretty entertaining. His second goal against Malaysia was class as well, so much power went into that shot.

But now the question remains as to whether he is still in / is going to be part of Kenny Dalglish’s plans. He’s actually not that bad to be honest, and it’s not that he can’t play against big teams, he has in fact scored against Manchester United, albeit a one-on-one, but still, a one-on-one against Van der Sar ain’t that easy.

Alberto Aquilani

I am prepared to forget everything that has happened last two seasons if Aquilani can perform consistently, because what I have been seeing in the past few games from the Italian has been absolutely class. He should be given a chance at Anfield, he’s got silky skills, his vision is amazing and he just brings so much class to Liverpool FC’s game.

Lots of backheels coming from the Italian out on tour and I really am looking forward to seeing him firing all cylinders for Liverpool FC next season (if he stays).

Charlie Adam

A few eyebrows were raised following Liverpool bringing in both Henderson and Adam, reason being that both are central midfielders and Meireles is looking to the exit door, but Adam has convinced me that Liverpool have made the right move. He hasn’t impressed me in terms of set pieces yet, but his general game is pretty good.

What I like most of the Scotsman is that he provides Liverpool with loads and loads of diagonal balls, so Stewart Downing can be expected to be running down the flanks the moment he kicks starts the new season come next month.

Connor Coady

He’s young, he’s looking really good for the future, Coady. He even managed to nab a goal against Guangdong Sunray Cave, so he’ll surely be no short of confidence should he be given some time to play next season.
