Chelsea Legend Casts Doubt On Modric Move

Former Stamford Bridge assistant manager Ray Wilkins has said the arrival of Luka Modric will not improve Chelsea.

Former Stamford Bridge assistant manager Ray Wilkins has said the arrival of Luka Modric will not improve Chelsea.

The Tottenham midfielder has already been subject to two Chelsea bids this summer with reports suggesting the Blues are preparing a third.

However, the former Chelsea legend spoke highly of Modric but fails to agree that the 25-year old will significantly improve the team. Wilkins told talkSPORT:

“Luka would be a wonderful additive [sic] to the squad, I don’t think he would improve it immensely.”

The Sky Sports pundit believes it will take the likes of Xavi and Iniesta to add real value to the Chelsea line up.

“To improve the squad and make it Champions League contenders, then Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are the guys that would improve it. At the moment he would add to what is already a great squad.”
