Which Left Back Should Liverpool Sign This Summer?

It’s has been quite a busy transfer window so far for Kenny Dalglish, and he’s pretty much signed the players he wanted, Stewart Downing – a left-winger that is capable of putting in pinpoint crosses for Andy Carroll, and also 2 other top class midfielders – Charlie Adam, 26, and Jordan Henderson, 21.

One thing that is still lacking in the rejuvenated Liverpool squad is a quality left back. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is still trying to lure Newcastle United left back Jose Enrique to Anfield, while his interest towards Hamburg star Marcell Jansen has seemed to be renewed after losing the battle of Gael Clichy to Manchester City.

Here are some left back options King Kenny should consider:

1. Georgi Schennikov

The current CSKA Moscow left back is one of the most promising youngsters in Europe right now. The 20-year-old prospect has been a part of CSKA from a young age after officially making his debut for the Russian side in a Russian Cup game against FC Torpedo Vladimir back in August 6, 2008. It is stated on Wikipedia that Liverpool have developed minor interests on Schennikov, but are yet to launch a bid for the Russian star at the moment.

2. Dennis Aogo

The 24-year-old left back played a part in Germany’s route to third place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He earned his first senior cap for the national side in a 3-0 win over Malta on 13 May 2010, playing 79 minutes. He is currently under-contract at  Hamburg until 2015 after signing an extension earlier this year. The Germany international has been on the radar of Italian giants Juventus and also German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

3. Konstantin Rausch

Another promising left back form the German Bundesliga league. Konstantin Rausch, 21 years of age, is a Russian-born German footballer currently playing for Hannover 96. He is yet to make a senior cap for the national side, having featured 23 times for the Under-17 squad and 4 times for the Under-18 squad. Rausch debuted for the club in a match against VFB Stuttgart on 30 March 2008 when he was just at the age of 18, making him the youngest player ever to appear in Hannover 96′s first team.
