Wenger Confirms Signings Will Be Wrapped Up Soon

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club will make their signings shortly and wont be waiting till the final days of the transfer window.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with moves for Valencia winger Juan Mata and Everton defender Phil Jagielka, and Wenger has admitted his liking to the Spaniard while refusing to be drawn on Jagielka, insisting he will respect the rules and not discuss individual players.

“Our business will be done sooner rather than later but it is difficult to speak about any individual player because that makes things difficult,” said Wenger. “I cannot complain about other clubs talking about our players and then do the same.

“I like the player [Mata], but that does not mean we will buy him. The other player [Jagielka] is under contract at Everton. If we want to buy a player, we need first the agreement of their club.

“At the moment the rules are constructed in a way where it is basically forbidden to speak about one individual player. I know that not everybody respects it, but I try to do as well as I can.”

So Arsenal fans can expect some movement in the transfer market in the coming weeks with a central defender a priority. Mata remains a top target, but unfortunately it seems any move for the creative winger will be as a replacement for the Barca-bound Fabregas after Wenger admitted his captain is unsettled at the club while his future is up in the air.
