David Dein is not the messiah or master transfer dealer many seem to think he is. The major reason for his downfall was the same as that of George Graham – conflict of interest. He couldn’t separate his own interests from from those of the club he was supposed to be serving. The business and the game of football have moved on and changed enormously since his disgrace. The club have moved on, so should he.

Funny isn’t it, Arsenal’s best success came when Mr dein was at the club.
One of the best signings we could make would be to get David dein back at the club!!

Sorry Canadian Gooner but totally disagree with you on this one. David Dein was good for Arsenal and I’d be glad to see him back any day!

Ah! the David Dein Knows Best Brigade with their rose coloured glasses. The man showed a distinct lack of ethics. A rising star in inter-club and FA politics who crashed and burned after he was caught putting his own business interests first. Yesterdays Man!

Well we do need yesterdays man…coz todays man is all about profits that sacrifice winning.
Id like a bit more profit invested and trophies won. You clearly are an arsenal fan on the stock market.

“I had a great working relationship with Arsene Wenger, I respect him enormously ”
Yes, he is the manager only concentrating business and getting more money for profit.
David Dein wants that.

@Canadian Gooner, spot on mate. Dein lovers clearly forget (choose to) that he desperately wanted Kroenke on board and when it all went pear shaped for him sold his shares – not to Kroenke, but to Usmanov. Seeing as Stan now owns the club, what is the point in wishing back someone who is unlikely to be able to work with the owner?

Because he realised that Kroenke was a bad option as he would not invest in Arsenal F.C.
Dein realised this all too late, and did the only thing he could: sold the rest of his shares to Alisher Usmanov, someone he truly believed would invest in the club.

And has subsequently been dumped by Red & White, so not only would he have issues with Kroenke, but now Usmanov as well. Dein sold out his shares because he wanted money in his pocket, not because he had Arsenal’s interests at heart. Stop fooling yourselves.

ARSENAL might have lost a great opportunity by shanting out USMANOV from the real affairs at the club!

Dein shouldn’t be back in the same capacity, he negotiated the current long term and uncompettitive sponsorship deals we find our selves locked into. Granted it was to gain a large payment up front for the stadium but there is no flexibility for us to improve now so ticket prices need to go up instead.

What is Canadian Gooner on about? David Dein never left in disgrace. He was also the man who brought Arsene Wenger to Arsenal and the man who brought Stan Kroenke to Arsenal. There is ZERO scandal regarding David Dein and Arsenal. David Deins son was the Agent of Thierry Henry.
The reason for Dein leaving the board was because he recognised the need for the club to be owned by a Billionaire. Soon every Premiership team will be owned by a Billionaire and it was better for the club to have control over which one, rather than a Billionaire choosing us. The owner of Man City is actually an Arsenal Fan. Had Kroenke not been in place with 29% … he would have bought Arsenal instead. He was in place because of David Dein. The board did not share his vision and ousted him, then ended up doing a U-turn, welcoming Kroenke, licking the arse of Kroenke and feeling embarrassed. The sooner Peter Hill-Wood leaves and the remnants of the old board leave, leaving Kroenke, Gazidis and hopefully David Dein, the sooner this club will move forward again. David Dein was the Transfer Meister, he has more contacts than anyone else, he rubs shoulders with the right people in exclusive Mens Clubs which others don’t have access too and to British Gooners, he’s an Arsenal great for all these reasons. Who else could have brought the Captain of Spurs to the club. Dein was also a master at renewing contracts.

I truly think that David Dein was arsenal through and through, he really loved arsenal, so someone that loves something, only wants the best for it, we need to bring him back in order for things to improve. UP GUNNERS

Wenger said that we gonna sign someone very special before the close of the window. Could that be Dein. I would welcome that with open arms. That will in effect mean we have signed three more apart from Gervi and Carl. We have Alex OC, Ryo Miyachi(he got the work permit and Wenger goes ahead and tells us that is like a new signing!) And Finaly David Dein. I think our transfer activities are pretty over. No more defensive reinforcement as we all expected.
