My Predictions for Liverpool FC: Season 2011/12

So, 2010/11 is history now, and Liverpool fans are already going “Bring on this season!”, and rightly so, as our nightmare under Hodgson is over, and the Dalglish reign officially begins.

Everyone’s starting out on level terms and I’m sure that other Scousers like myself are absolutely excited by this prospect, having waved goodbye to all title aspirations by November and Champions League chances by January. We are inviting you to comment, on what you think about this upcoming season. Whether it be “This is the season” or simply giving your opinion on what you expect to see from Liverpool this upcoming season or simply giving predictions like myself.

I’ll try to be as honest as possible with this, being honest but optimistic, as that’s the only way to look at a new Barclays Premier League season. First of all, I’d like to say that missing out on a European spot might just be a blessing in disguise for The Reds, reason being that now our players get more resting time, as it only means no midweek games in Ukraine (that was pretty much the case last season).

I’m also going to predict on the basis that Liverpool are going to play their ‘second side’ (meaning Shelvey, N’gog (if he stays), Cole (if he stays) and Danny Wilson to name a few) in the Carling Cup and the FA Cup this season.

The Premier League: 4th.  I personally think that we could be strong enough to challenge for the title as well, but I simply think that the leaky defence might just be a cause for concern and I would think that Enrique may need some time to fit into the team.

The Carling Cup and FA Cup: Our academy is blooming with talent. Whether it be the much hyped Spanish youngster Suso or our young winger Raheem Sterling, or even our goal scoring talent Adam Morgan, not to mention our dynamic young fullback duo in Flanagan and Robinson, I don’t see any reason why we can’t be looking at least one visit to Wembley next season. My prediction would be that we will win the Carling Cup and we will exit the FA Cup at the quarter finals stage.
