REPORTS: Chelsea Launch New Modric Bid

Chelsea are hoping to use out of favour midfielder Yossi Benayoun as bait in their attempt to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.

Chelsea are hoping to use out of favour midfielder Yossi Benayoun as bait in their attempt to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, according to reports.

The transfer saga between Chelsea and Modric has been well documented this summer, with Chelsea set to offer a third and final offer for the playermaker.

The Blues have had a £22m and £27m bids turned down for Modric with chairman Daniel Levy and boss Harry Redknapp remaining adamant that their star midfielder will not be sold this summer.

The Israel captain has only made 6 appearances for Chelsea since his switch from Liverpool last summer. Benayoun was brought in to replace Joe Cole who went in the opposite direction.

Redknapp is thought to be an admirer of the 31-year old but it remains doubtful that Spurs would accept the Chelsea ace in exchange for Modric plus a fee of £30m.
