Early Preview: Great Time For Liverpool To Play Arsenal

Liverpool FC are taking on Arsenal FC this weekend, and here’s a mini build-up to the match ahead from a Liverpool fan’s perspective.

Liverpool are fixing the puzzle which is their formation, and in my opinion, it’s the perfect time to face Arsenal. This is, in my opinion, the weakest Arsenal squad I’ve seen in a long time now. Fabregas is gone, Nasri unhappy, RVP made captain, several injuries to contend with, and Gervinho is out on suspension (and Song might be joining him on the sidelines).

We may have started out with a small hiccup, but we can more than rectify the problems at the Emirates. Let’s face it, our squad against Sunderland was new and untested. Henderson, Adam and Downing were only playing their first competitive game for Liverpool, not to mention Enrique as well. Remember, Enrique was signed pretty much one day earlier.

Add to that Flanagan (whom made his debut late last season), Carroll (whom was barely played thanks to fitness since his arrival) and an unfit Luis Suarez. This team is only starting to work together and I’m confident that the boys in Red will eventually see success.

From what I’ve seen from Enrique, I think he is a quality buy. His crosses are pretty dangerous and his defending is solid. According to some stat I saw on Twitter he had the best pass completion percentage and was never beaten by an attacker against Sunderland, forgive me if it’s a false stat, but he was still class out there on his debut.

To add to the positives of this week, many dropped two points with us, most notably (and importantly) two giants dropped two points, them being Arsenal and Chelsea. A look at the table provides many positives.

We’ve pretty much done all our required spending, although Gary Cahill still seems to be on the lips of every Liverpool fan at the moment. Cahill and Carragher at the back sounds amazing, but I will remain happy whether it be Skrtel or Agger partnering Carragher come this September.

And ending on a high, it seems that our skipper Steven Gerrard is set to return to light training!
