Chelsea “World Record” Signing Leaves The Bridge

Hamburg have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic.

The Serbian was a world record purchase for someone under 18 years old back in 2007, when the Blues decided to part with £3.8million for the young defender.

Rajkovic has spent the majority of his time on loan in Eredivisie, with successful spells with FC Twente, PSV and Vitesse.

Despite making his debut for Chelsea in a preseason friendly this summer the Serb was unable to convince Andre Villas-Boas of his long term future in West London, and he was also unable to secure a UK work permit. So instead of loaning him out the Blues have decided to part company. Hamburg boss Michael Oenning hopes the deal will prove productive for his struggling side.

“He is tall and an uncomfortable opponent who can scare other players,” said Oenning.

“He is bringing a quality we do not have and we need right now. On top of that he is left footed.”

I thought it was because he couldn’t secure a work permit not because AVB didn’t want him

ya man,rajkovic is good,simply coz of the workpermit he had to leave,nt coz of avb! mreover he also scord against wycmbe for chelsea in the preseason

Getting the facts right is a lot better than giving distortion of truths… he was sold because he couldn’t get a work permit in England.

the guy was wanted why do you think they tried to get a work permit, the permit has previously been rejected and this most recent attempt was an appeal against that rejection, the club has obviously been advised that they have no grounds for further appeal and have cut their loses, football friends some factual content to your articles is probably advisable
