Redknapp Reveals Record Bid Rejected On Deadline Day

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed the club rejected a record £40million bid for Luka Modric from Chelsea.

Chelsea were desperate to land the Croatian international and launched a sensational £40million bid on the eve of the transfer window deadline, which would easily have been a record transfer fee received for the club.

However, Daniel Levy was defiant over Modric and insisted the playmaker would remain at White Hart Lane this summer, much to the delight of Redknapp:

“The chairman stood firm over Luka,” he told Sky Sports News. “I think £40million was apparently offered. Whether that is true or not, it is what I heard.

“It is a big offer to turn down, that’s for sure. I am delighted the little man is still here and hopefully he will have a great season for us.”
