Arsene Wenger Forced To Eat His Own Words

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be slightly embarrassed to eat his own words after he criticised the Premier League’s loan system last week.

Wenger hit out at Tottenham’s deal for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor which saw the former Togo international join their local neighbours on a season long loan.

“It doesn’t respect the 25-player rule because you can own half of the league and give them out to where it suits you,” said Wenger.

Five days later and the Arsenal manager signs Yossi Benayoun on a year’s loan from Chelsea and sends Nicklas Bendtner out to Sunderland on the same terms.

I think Arsene is talking about a club being so wealthy it could afford to purchase every top striker then just loan them out. Surely even you can see where this could be going if left unchecked!

True it’s about having so many top strikers in your team then loan them out as you can play them all.
Knowing very well that loanees arent played against mother clubs……..

I think his criticism was about Mansour FC paying the majority of Adebayor’s wages. Mansour FC is providing Tottenham with a very good striker on the cheap to play against Mansour FC’s rivals.

Wenger is a self righteous hypocrite with a persecution complex… Prick for short.

your clearly just a wenger hater.

hes got it right!!man city can buy 15 top strikers and loan them to lower premier league teams whilst paying all of their wages so they can play against the top 5/6 for them to drop points how can this be fair.

      stoney your a mug

But even so he’s still doing the same thing tottenham loaned a striker from a rival, and arsenal loaned a midfielder from a rival. Personally wenger just wants other people not to be able to buy as many players as they want for how ever much they want so he don’t have to pay any money out! At the end of the day it’s there team there money they can do whatever they want with it, if any of use owned all that cash you wouldn’t wanna be told how to spend it end of. And with out all this money the premier league wouldn’t be the greatest in the world!

The three most pointless sentences I’ve ever read in my entire life. It’s pretty embarrassing you even thought that, let along bothered to right in down and put it in the public domain.

“let ALONE bothered to WRITE it down”. Your use of the English language is what’s really embarrassing. Shameful in fact. The same goes for FOWLER. “YOU’RE clearly just a Wenger hater”. GCSE English was obviously too tough. Did you both manage to write YOUR names correctly at the top of the first page? I believe that’s worth 5 marks all on its own. One thing that is correct.. Wenger is a tedious arse that I despise. Chin chin.

Tabloids always look 4 selling articles. It’s definate that articles concerning Arsene and Arsenal have market. So, fans, why deny them some £ for coffee!

I make him (wenger ) absolutely right (and I’m a Spurs fan!) All he’s doing is taking advantage of the system as it stands, it doesn’t mean he has to agree with it. I’ve always thought it a nonsense that clubs can loan players out to teams in the same division, so they can play against their rivals and not themselves. But as that is the case it would be mad to ignore it and put your team at a disadvantage.

    • Danny

      September 4, 2011 at 10:09 pm

Well said Steve couldn’t agree more. @stoney you’re an idiot. If all the wrong decisions in the prem were made correctly last season arsenal would have finished second as rafa would say FACT! It’s hard not to be paranoid with that kind of thing staring you in the face. As for self righteous, wenger is right arsenal can’t afford to buy team after team so we have to try to develop them or buy players young players cheap and bring them on.

All you losers here who refuse to accept AW is right and that big teams are destroying the smaller teams (which is what he actually said) then you need to stop reading the anti-Arsenal/Wenger Tabloids and start looking at the real EPL. It now has 4 teams who can do whatever they like with the $$$$ they have, including the following:

1)Buy any player they want worldwide,
2)Pay any wage they want regardless,
3)Sit any player on the bench, even if it ruins his career,
4)By doing 3 often enough, prevent their League opponents from getting good players to compete.
5)Then loaning them out,if it suits the owners, so that it can hurt their rivals potentially.

It isn’t hypocrisy its honesty, he is limited to the existing system and doesn’t want to disadvantage his Club but he’s acknowledging a real issue in the League!

People will say Moneycity have bought the league. It will be a hollow victory for City! When Arsenal win things we do it with skillful, attractive football using the best players the club can afford! If when Mansour walks away city will be ruined. No business can spend 4x more than they Earn!

What would teams like Man City do if nobody loans their players.

Loaning one player to a team, any player to any team, isn’t going to dramtically improve the team. Winning things requires team-work. A player like Adebayor can’t go to any club and meld into a team before February. He’ll score some goals yeah, but not as many as players who are used to their team-mates.

In Adebayor’s case, he’ll be a PITA in the dressing room and will perform only when he’s in the mood.

I’m not worried about teams loaning out players. I would only become concerned if 2 or more players were loaned to the same team. Now that would be VERY BAD.

im spurs mad, hate arsenal, but gotta admit wenger is spot on with this 1! there should be strict circumstances with loan deals. hes not angry at spurs getting addybyor to be fair to him, he is angry with city just buying everyone for any amount they want, then distributing them evenly round the rest of the league, always holding the contracts! lets be fair!

its Wenger bashing time, something the tabloids have been waiting for since he made them look stupid in 2004 and had continued to because they didn’t believe he bud go a whole season beaten and did not expect him to qualify for CL every season with his young team.Well be prepared cos he’s gonna make them look even more stupid this time round and boy we will gloat.

im surprised no one has noticed the Arabs are buying teams round Europe to boost their image for 2022 world cup, after that, I hate to see the bubble burst and the subsequent football melt down. They will do anything and have the resources to do so but see how Dubai melted?so will Ab Dhabi after the World Cup 2022.

I hate what Mansour clan has done to the football, but I still wonder what Abu Dhabi has go to do with the World Cup 2022? It is Qatar that is hosting WC2022 and there is NOTHING common between these two countries.

Wenger is a hypocrite, fact! city loan a player, so do we
2.we had about 18players out on loan last season, including to premier &lower league teams, we gave wilshere to bolton 2years ago, well they were hurting somebody weren’t they? city doesn’t have to care whether they buy a player &put him on the bench,do they? We also buy players &bench them
No wonder wenger has become an object of caricature in the press &we keep decieving ourselves that the press hate arsenal, they don’t! They love wenger,he’s full of shit when frustrated.

Anyone who doesn’t think Whinger isn’t a hypocrit is fooling themselves, he maybe right to his opinion, however for years he claims the injustice against his precious boys but never seems to see the things his own team does wrong! Funny that, I’ve heard the excuses about tactics however in a court system it’s called purgery or lying through your teeth! SUCK IT UP

Coming from a Spurs fan, you’ve totally missed Wengers point.

He is saying that there are no rules in places for a club like City to buy 50 players and engineer a league where teams around them are strengthened to the determent of their local rivals.

It had nothing to do with Benayoun.

Bad research and bad journalism, you should be ashamed.

I as a Spurs fan also see his point but honestly and more poiniontly I couldn’t care what it was, it’s the case of money talks bs walks that’s how our world operates, we all have to deal with these injustices and make do! I hear “it’s not fair” bleated from that pissy little Whinger one more time I’m gonna start pissing on every gooner I see
