Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal winger Andrei Arshavin as owner Suleyman Kerimov looks to continue his big spending policy.

The wealthy Russian outfit have already signed Samuel Eto’o, Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov this summer and the Dagestan based side will hope to lure Arshavin back to his native homeland.

The 30-year old has been a shadow of his former self in the past 18 months and Arsene Wenger will be keen to sell the wide man with his contact up at the end of next summer, and some suggest Arshavin would jump at the chance to move back home.

Arshavin was an instant hit with the Arsenal faithful when he burst on the scene back in 2009 but has since failed to live up the originally hype and was linked with a move away from the club earlier on in the summer.

Rumours suggested that if Arsene Wenger had persuaded Samir Nasri to stay this summer the Russian would have been showed the exit with Italian giants Juventus keen to sign the former Zenit St. Petersburg man.
