Striker wants Arsenal move, but do we need him?

Long-term Arsenal target Loic Remy has come out and said he wants to join the club this summer, but do we need him? The 23 year-old French striker is valued at about £11m, has scored 13 goals in 31 games this season and has been linked with both Arsenal and Lyon in recent years. But it’s the Gunner’s who Remy wants to join as he’s been a life-long Gooner and has even spoken to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry about life in London.

“Arsenal are the club I want to join. I won’t deny they are my priority. Arsenal are a young, ambitious side and I love to watch them play,” he recently told RMC.

“It is the ideal place for me. I spoke with Thierry [Henry] about them and asked him lots of questions about life there.

“That is because I have been an Arsenal fan since I was little. I was not disappointed with what he told me.”

Remy has broken into the French squad recently and may force his way into their World Cup squad. With Wenger being a known admirer, Remy an Arsenal fan, he’s young, wont break the bank, and is French so looks like a perfect potential new recruit….but do we actually need him?

A deal to bring striker Marouane Chamakh on a free is all but confirmed, and with Van Persie, Vela, Bendtner, Eduardo, Arshavin, and Walcott all potential striking options already on the Arsenal books, where would Remy fit in? I am all for buying players who care about the club and dream of playing for us, it makes a nice change, but not just for the sake of it. So if Remy does come we would need to sell someone, most likely Eduardo. That’s the only way i can see this one happening.

What do Arsenal fans think of a potential move for Remy? Please leave your comments below…
