Arsenal Injury Crisis Deepens After Szczesny Ruled Out

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny after he picked up a back injury.

The 21-year-old pulled out of Poland’s forthcoming friendly’s with South Korea and Belarus and he’s set to join a long list of injury concerns at the Emirates.

Szczesny was in good form during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Spurs, pulling off a string of important saves, and has been one of the Gunner’s key performers this campaign. The Polish FA announced yesterday that the Arsenal stopper has been forced to pull out of their squad with a back injury and he will now be assessed at London Colony.

The initial prognosis is it’s only a minor complain and shouldn’t keep him out of action for too long. However, both Jack Wilshere and Thomas Vermaelen have been ruled out for several months after it was initially thought their injuries were not serious, so Arsene Wenger will be hoping lightning doesn’t strike for a third time.

If Szcsesny is ruled out for any length of time it will come as a bitter blow to Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, after the club has made a disastrous start to their season and currently have several first team players on the sidelines, the latest being Bacary Sagna who has been ruled out for at least 3 months with a broken fibula.
