Latest Keeper On Arsenal’s ‘Wishlist’ Has To Be A Joke?!
The worst kept secret in football is that Arsenal are on the look-out for a new goalkeeper, which isn’t a surprise given the poor performances of their current pair Almunia and Fabianski this season. The likes of Hart, Buffon, Akinfeev, Green, Frey, Loris and Gordon have all been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks and fans have debated who the man should that Arsene Wenger buys. They are all arguably a better option than what we have already, so any one of the aforementioned names would do me.
However, the latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates has got to be a joke or the tabloids have simply run out of names to link us with and are amusing themselves. Paul Robinson of Blackburn Rovers! Yep, Arsene Wenger has decided Robbo is the man to play in goal for Arsenal next season and is believed to be ready to pounce, according to The People newspaper that is. Seriously, do me a favour. The ex Tottenham and Leeds man is NOT the player Arsenal need and i very much doubt Arsene is weighing up a move for him. Total rubbish.
With England’s top three goalkeepers potentially available, why would Wenger go for the 4th or 5th choice option who is not even that much better than Almunia? If this happens i will be both gob-smacked and absolutely gutted. There are several MUCH better goalkeeper’s who are available this summer, i really hope Arsene isn’t just looking for a cheap stop gap to try and appease the fans. Even if he was, Paul Robinson isn’t the man for that either. He would be better off getting David James in for a year.
Maybe I’m being harsh on Robinson, he showed plenty of potential in his younger days and can produce a decent save now and again. But i just don’t think he’s the man to come in and be the commanding force between the sticks Arsenal are crying out for.
What do Arsenal fans think of the Robinson link? Please leave your comments below….
