Redknapp: ‘Luiz Not Cut Out To Be A Premier League Defender’

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes David Luiz should not be playing as a central defender for Chelsea and he could end up getting Villas-Boas sacked.

The former Liverpool man admits his defending has been sceptical at times for Chelsea and believes his style would be more suitable as a midfielder. He explained in his column for the Daily Mail:

“David Luiz is a modern phenomenon; he’s a defender who doesn’t really like to defend! He’s terrific on the ball and easy on the eye.

“I’m not sure he is cut out to be a Premier League defender. That is the third penalty he has conceded in his brief Chelsea career.

“Luiz needs to move to midfield, because defending like that can get a manager the sack.”
