Hill-Wood – Arsenal Ready To Invest

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood says there are funds for manager Arsene Wenger to strengthen the squad, if the Frenchman needs them.

At yesterday’s AGM, Hill-Wood reiterated that Arsenal’s hierarchy will do everything they can to achieve success on the pitch and that includes investing in the playing staff. The Arsenal Chairman also stresses that they are all seeking success while continuing to work within their self-sustaining model.

“The provision of funds to invest in the team, which we did in the summer, we will do again,” he told arsenal.com. “Let me make it clear that we are all seeking on-the-field success.

“Our goals are to compete for various titles and be in the Champions League, which we have done for 14 years. It remains our focus.

“We remain committed to our self-sustaining model, convinced that this is the right way forward for the Club. It means our future is in our own hands.”

Despite the claims the Gunners chief came under constant scrutiny. Hill-Wood was the subject to several personal attacks, one shareholder calling for his resignation. He said:

“Sorry to disappoint you, but I have no intention of standing down, although it is actually a decision for my board colleagues.

“I regard it a great honour and privilege to be chairman of this great club.

“I am also a fan, and I share the desire for us to be successful.

“I am also confident we have the best men for the job in [manager] Arsene [Wenger], Stan Kroenke and Ivan Gazidis to take the club forward on and off the field.”
