FABREGAS UPDATE: Arsenal “delighted” at lack of activity

Fabregas

By Fab4.

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has been talking to the press again to give an update on the Cesc Fabregas situation. He has claimed the Gunners are ‘very surprised’ that they are yet to hear from Barcelona but ‘delighted’ that no offer has come forward. Hill-Wood also reiterates that Arsenal have no desire to sell and it’s up to Barca if they want to bid for ‘our player’.

Fabregas has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona after apparently telling Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger last week that he wants to return home to Spain, but Hill-Wood has once again basically told Barca to put-up or shut-up.

“We have heard nothing at all and I am not looking for a telephone call from them,” Hill-Wood told the Daily Star.

“As far as I am concerned, he is our player. If they want to make a bid it is up to them.”

Regarding the lack of approach, Hill-Wood added: “We are very surprised, but delighted.”

If you believe what is written in the papers, Fabregas is already a Barca player, has already moved back to his hometown in Catalunia, and sleeps in a ‘I heart Barcelona t-shirt’ while tucked up in his Barca bed-sheets. The fact is, over the last week we have heard nothing from Arsenal or Cesc to suggest a move is imminent.

The silence does suggest that Fabregas did in fact tell Arsene he would prefer a move back to Barca this summer, but i think that he would be more than happy if a move can’t be struck and he would remain a happy-gunner for another year at least. Despite what may be reported, Arsenal hold all the cards here and have no need to get involved in Barca’s stupid transfer games. Cesc wont put in a transfer request, so either come in with a serious offer, or p*ss off and go unsettled someone else’s captain.
