“It Is Going To Be Difficult For Arsenal To Hold Onto Robin van Persie”

Football pundit Graeme Souness has questioned whether Arsenal can keep hold of club captain Robin van Persie and worries the Gunners may be forced to sell their prized asset this summer.

RVP has been linked with a move away from the club after he refused to discuss a new deal. The Dutch striker has just over 18 months to run on his current deal, and former Liverpool man Souness feels Arsenal may end losing their star player just like they lost Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri this summer. He wrote in his column for the Daily Star Sunday:

“It is going to be difficult for Arsenal to hold onto Robin van Persie.

“I fear they could lose their Dutch striker, just as they lost skipper Cesc Fabregas to Barca for £33million and fellow midfielder Samir Nasri for £25m to Man City in the summer.

“Top players look for two things – what they are going to be paid and if they can win things.

“Van Persie will probably discover he can earn more money elsewhere, at a club with more chance of lifting trophies – but it might take a £30m fee to sign him.”
