Agent: “Yaya Toure will go to England”
By Ross Mackiewicz.
The agent of Barcelona’s defensive midfielder Yaya Toure claims that the Ivory Coast international is set for a switch to England but will not specify his client’s destination. Speculation has mounted over the future of the Ivorian for a number of months due to the ongoing saga of The Blaugranes’ pursuit of Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas. It has been claimed that the Spanish champions are willing to use Toure as bait in order to lure their prime target.
Dimiitri Seluk, Toure’s agent, claims that a deal is already in place between Barcelona and an English outfit. Seluk has refused to reveal which club it is for the time being with the deal set to be concluded over the next couple of days.
“If everything goes well, Yaya will go to England.” He said
“But we can’t talk about definite clubs. We already have a closed deal, and all will be resolved before the World Cup.”
Manchester United along with local rivals Manchester City have been heavily linked with the 27 year old. Champions Chelsea are the latest club on English shores to express an interest with the Spanish press claiming that Carlo Ancelotti’s side have already tabled a £17million offer. Manchester City have the financial muscle to lure the midfield ace as they seek to offer him a more lucrative contract than The Blues as they intend to reunite him with his brother Kolo at Eastlands.
Barcelona’s director general Joan Olivier has stated that the tough tackling midfielder can leave if he so chooses and the club will not stand in his way.
“We are not interested in offloading (him), but obviously if Toure isn’t happy, we won’t force him to stay.” said Olivier.
“If he wants to stay, we’ll be delighted. If not, then the solution must also be good for the club, not just the player.”
Toure has made 118 appearances for the Catalonian side winning seven major honours including the UEFA Champions League and the World Club Championship.
