Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Forced Into January Move For Argentina International

Arsenal are lining up a move for Argentinian left back Fabian Monzon, according to reports and may be forced into a January move for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal are lining up a move for Argentinian left back Fabian Monzon, according to reports.

Monzon joined French club Nice in the summer from Boca Juniors and has been impressive so far, scoring 2 goals in just 7 games and has also forced his way into the Argentinian national set up making 7 appearances so far. Arsenal are just one of several European clubs monitoring his progress, sending scouts to watch the 24-year-old on a regular basis.

Summer signing Andre Santos has impressed at left back but Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen on bringing in another left sided defensive player due to worries over the long term fitness of Keiran Gibbs, who has struggled with injury in recent seasons.

Reports have suggested Monzon is high on Wenger’s wish-list with the Frenchman ideally wanting to make his move in the summer. However, German outfit Schalke are also keen admirers of the Argentinian international and are preparing a January offer which could force Arsenal into making their move in the winter window.
