Arsenal legend Thierry Henry broke down in tears during his speech after attending the unveiling of three club legend statues at the Emirates today.

Arsenal celebrated its 125 anniversary by unveiling three statues of club legends outside the Emirates Stadium, with Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry those immortalised.

Club chairman Peter Hill-wood and manager Arsene Wenger were both in attendance to unveil the statues, which are positioned around the outskirts of the Emirates Stadium. Fans, journalists and bloggers were also welcomed to join in the celebrations but unfortunately i was unable to make it. A real opportunity missed as Thierry Henry is a personal hero of mine.

Ex-manager Herbert Chapman’s statue was first to be unveiled followed by ‘Mr Arsenal’ Tony Adams, and then it was Henry. His statue was of him on his knees after scoring that famous solo effort against Tottenham in 2002 (my favourite ever goal). The Frenchman attended the event along with his young daughter and following tributes from both Wenger and Hill-wood, Henry took to the stand to say a few words.

‘Wow! I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would happen. I have so much love for the club’

‘I want to thank all the great players who played alongside me.  I have to thank the fans. I always gave my best.’

Henry then broke down and wiped a tear from his eye as fans sign his name, he continued:

‘Sometimes the press killed me for not showing emotion. I’m showing it now.’

‘Once a Gooner, always a Gooner’

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry!
