Man Utd Transfer News: Fergie Targets Cut-Price Deal For Starlet

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Crystal Palace youngster Nathaniel Clyne as a solution to his right back problems.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Crystal Palace youngster Nathaniel Clyne as a solution to his right back problems.

Right back has become a troublesome position for Ferguson ever since Gary Neville retired, The plan was for Rafael da Silva to take over the mantle but after a promising start, the Brazilian has been plagued with injury problems.

This has left the United boss having to use Chris Smalling and Phil Jones to fill the void but Fergie is keen to add a recognised full back to his ranks and was alerted to the potential of Clyne during United’s recent Carling Cup tie with Palace.

The 20-year-old put in an impressive display and Ferguson made an initial enquiry after the game only to find out several Premier League clubs are already interested, with the likes of Newcastle, Fulham and Everton monitoring the starlet. This has forced Ferguson in to making a quick decision and a swoop in January is now on the cards.

Clyne would be available for a reduced fee this winter as his contract expires in the summer and Palace could cash in now instead of seeing him leave for nothing in 6 months.
