And so it starts. We all knew it was coming and it’s only going to get worse in the coming months. Yes, the rumours of Robin van Persie moving to the Spanish ‘giants’ has begun.

The Daily Mail have reported today that Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in the hunt for our star striker, with the pair lining up summer moves for the Dutchman.

The report claims that Madrid are looking to offload Gonzalo Higuain and have identified Sergio Aguero or Van Persie as a replacement, with boss Jose Mourinho preferring RVP due to his versatility in being able to play anywhere across the front line.

It just never stops does it Gooners? Every year we have to go through constant rumours linking our star players with a move away, and more often than not it’s to one of Spain’s ‘big two’.

The Van Persie situation is an extremely worrying one, given that he will enter the final year of his contract in the summer and we don’t have a great track record of persuading players to sign extensions, do we?!

But, we knew the vultures would be circling especially given the 28-year-old’s stunning form this season. My only wish is that IF Van Persie does decide it’s time to move on, he goes abroad and doesn’t do a Nasri and join City for the money.

I think our captain has far more about him and would never join a league rival. He knows what it means to play for and captain Arsenal, so if god-forbid he does move on, i think we’ll see him in La Liga next season. But i have a gut feeling he’ll still be at Arsenal, not sure why, just a feeling.
