Ever since Wales captain and Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey scored his first senior goal, a succession of spooky coincidences have followed him during his career in the past four years. Here is an overview:

Aaron Ramsey’s first senior goal for Cardiff came on the 26th of April in 2008. Two days later, a train collision in Asia was said to have killed over 70 people.

Aaron Ramsey then joined Arsenal and scored his first goal on the 21st of October 2008 against Fenerbache in a thrilling 5-2 win in the Champions League. Three days later, the infamous “Bloody Friday” occurred, when many stock exchanges in the world experienced arguably one of the worst declines in history.

Aaron’s third goal was on the 22nd of August 2009 when Arsenal beat Portsmouth 4 – 1. Four days later, John F. Kennedy’s brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, passed away.

Aaron’s fourth goal was on the 6th of December 2009 in a 2-0 win over Stoke City. Two days later, 127 people were killed in the bombings in Baghdad.

Aaron’s fifth goal was on the 30th of December 2009 in a 4-1 win over Portsmouth. Two days later, 105 people were killed in Pakistan after a suicide bomber detonated himself during a volleyball match.

Aaron’s sixth goal was on the 3rd of January 2010 in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup against West Ham. A day later, on 4th January 2010, Tsutomu Yamaguchi, one of the survivors of the Hiroshima bombings, passes away.

On the 27th of February 2010, Arsenal played Stoke where Ryan Shawcross broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg and on the same day, an earthquake hit Chile and killed an estimated 9% of the population.

Aaron’s seventh goal was against Leicester City on the 22nd of February 2011 for Cardiff City, where he went on loan to gain match fitness after his leg break. And on the same day, an earthquake struck New Zealand and killed 181 people.

Aaron’s eighth goal was against Manchester United in a 1-0 win on the 1st of May 2011. The day after, the world’s most wanted terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, was killed by US troops in a house in Pakistan.

Aaron’s ninth goal was against Spurs in a 2-1 loss on the 2nd of October 2011, and three days later, Apple CEO and innovator, Steve Jobs, passed away.

Aaron’s tenth goal was in a 1-0 away win to Marseille in the Champions League on the 19th of October 2011. The next day, long-time Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was captured and killed by protesters.

Aaron’s eleventh goal was against Sunderland on the 11th of February in a 2-1 win. The next day, Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel.

Aaron’s birthday is on December 26th, here are some milestones that also happen to fall on that same day:

  • In 1991, the Soviet Union dissolves.
  • In 1999, a storm called ‘Lothar’ strikes Europe killing an estimated 137 people.
  • In 2003, an earthquake in Iran kills more than 10,000 people.
  • In 2004, another earthquake in Indian Ocean turned into a tsunami and took the lives of more than 220,000 people.
  • In 2006, a Nigerian pipeline explodes and kills over 200 people.
