Arsenal welcome bitter rivals Tottenham to the Emirates on Sunday looking for revenge after going down 2-1 in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane in October.

The Gunners haven’t recorded a win over Spurs in the last four league meetings, losing on three occasions, and for the first time go into the game with Tottenham regarded as slight favourites.

Last season saw Arsenal throw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 and currently find themselves 10 points adrift of their neighbours, so there is no doubt Arsene Wenger owes the Gunners faithful a win on Sunday.

Team News

Arsene Wenger will have to make do without German defender Per Mertesacker who will miss the rest of the season after injuring ankle ligaments against Sunderland. Francis Coquelin is also ruled out.

Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs face late fitness tests but both should come through and start the game. Aaron Ramsey is a doubt for the game after picking up an injury last week.

I’d like to see Andrey Arshavin given a chance in the centre after he impressed for the reserves in that position during the week. Aaron Ramsey and Thomas Rosicky have both struggled in the ‘creative hole’ position, so it’s time Arshavin got a chance in his best position.

Tottenham are expected to welcome back several key players for the game, with Emmanuel Adebayor likely to be passed fit after struggling with a knee injury this week.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart and all also poised to start after taking part in training on Friday. Ledley King and Sandro face late fitness tests, with King expected to play but Sandro could miss out.

Harry Redknapp would be mad not to start Van der Vaart, with the Dutchman scoring four goals in just three appearances against the Gunners, although Louis Saha have done well up front so he may feature.

Predicted Score

If there is one thing you can guarentee in a North London Derby, its goals. And this game should be no exception. Tottenham have kept only one clean sheet in 32 games against Arsenal and Arsenal’s defence has shown it’s vulnerable side on more than one occasion this season.

There is little doubt that Tottenham go into this game as the form team but i can still see Arsenal getting something. Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham.
