Manchester United travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City for the first time since 2005. During that match United lost 2-0 with both goals being scored in the second half by Dean Aston and Leon McKenzie.

No one from the current Norwich City team was involved in that victory over United. Norwich haven’t lost at home to United since 1994 and with the team currently 8th in the league coming into the match with two consecutive wins, the Canaries are buzzing and full of confidence ahead of this match up.

Man Utd are coming off a poor performance in the Europa League, going down 2-1 to Porto and losing for the first time at home in Europe since 2009. The team was quite young with an average age in defence of just 21, as the team missed the presence of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra. The centre of midfield wasn’t at its finest with Cleverley and stand in captain Ji Sung Park playing poorly, with Chicarito’s early goal their best piece of attacking play while the second half was one of the poorest performances United have produced all season, not even getting a shot on target.

After the match, Sir Alex admitted that he got his selections wrong telling Manutd.com,

“I accept responsibility myself because I picked a team with too many youngsters in the back four positions. They all have great potential but on European nights you need experience in the back positions and it just made it a nervy night for us.”

Norwich City have been a real surprise this season, currently in 8th place and two points clear of 9th placed Sunderland, with 19 of their 35 points secured away from home. Coming off a loss at home against Championship side Leicester City in the 5th round of the FA Cup, Paul Lambert’s men will be looking to bounce back from their terrible display.

City will have to bring their A-game because Manchester United are looking for the 3 points to keep up the pressure on Manchester City, who extended their lead to five points after beating Blackburn tonight. Also United are looking for the treble over all three newly promoted teams away from home, beating Swansea 1-0 and QPR 2-0 already.
