Arshavin is a world class player badly mismanaged by Wenger. Wenger never managed to get the best out of him preferring to put underperforming players like Walcott and Ramsay ahead of him and insisting on playing him out of position. You cannot blame him for being disillusioned and demotivated at Arsenal.

Arsh can produce magic occassionally but is not world class.
A world class player performs on either position and is committed everytime he steps on the field.
Arsh is lazy and far too inconsistent.

From what’s on show on the video, here’s what we can say:
1) Nice to see such a spirited performance from the best striker in the world! A miss from what looks like 4 yards, and from an offside to boot! Great going, Nicky lad.
2) Arshavin’s assist was all about Shirokov’s near-perfect strike. It was very easy to waste that one.
3) Arshavin’s goal was a lucky one, though the shot was quirky. Sorensen did all he could to prevent himself from taking that one.
If the highlight gets this one right, the game was very, very slow and simply boring. I don’t think it compares to any EPL game. Very poor grounds for any judgment of a player’s abilities let alone quality. Arshavin is good alright, but not because of this game.

My thoughts exactly. Whenever Arshavin played with us, I always felt like we were playing with a man down. Defensively he’s just nonexistent. The amount of gaps and pressure that he leaves for his other teammates to cover just doesn’t justify his offensive capabilities, which consist of rare sparks of magic once every full moon.
