5 Things We Learned From Arsenal’s 2-1 Win Over Liverpool

After coming from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday thanks to a double from RVP, here are five things Arsenal fans learned from the game.

Second comeback in a week and peaking at the right time. All the right things that we have envied Manchester United for, over the years, were visible at Anfield on Saturday. Without elaborating much, I would like to throw light on what we learn’t from the game against Liverpool.

1. Arsenal have all the ingredients to finish third

Four consecutive wins after a torrid January, Arsene Wenger voted as the manager of the month for February and the sun is shining brightly in the red half of North London again.

Brilliant characters, superb leadership on the pitch, grit, passion and God’s left foot, are surely enough ingredients to help us finish not only in the top 4 but also ahead of Spurs.

Just 4 points separate the two teams, and with one glance at the fixture list, it is safe to say we will surely be right in the mix for third by the end of the season.

2. Van Persie the difference between the sides

Robin kind of epitomizes what Liverpool lack, a clinical striker. Two chances and two goals, compare that to the innumerable chances for the home team, and yet they needed an own goal to get on the scoresheet.

While Liverpool and Chelsea are struggling to get goals, Arsenal have a trump card in the flying Dutchman, and he sure makes it count.

3. The curious case of Songinho

Alex Song has 11 assists this season, 8 in the league. To add to that, he has completed more through balls than the most impressive midfielder in the league, David Silva. Some of his passes have cut open defences. The Everton game springs to mind. But even when not assisting, he averages almost 1.4 key passes per game, which is extremely impressive for someone who is meant to be a defensive midfielder.

Which brings us to the most important part, is he defensively solid enough when having to contribute so much to our offensive game? Or is it time for Arsene to play him higher up the pitch?

4. Szczesny is world class

One penalty stopped, five saves from open play, and numerous clearances. He has got that air of confidence around him. You can sense it. Despite the odd error here and there, he has had an extremely commanding presence and has been beastly as the last line of defence.

His excellent shot-stopping abilities, good reading of the game, confident when one-on-one and naturally instinctive interceptions, have elevated him to one of the most promising goalkeepers in world football today.

5. Arsenal are in a much better state than Liverpool

A Mickey Mouse cup, won against a Championship side, that too on penalties. The Reds are a stagnant club with some really average players, and a transfer policy that is a total joke.

I have to say we are lucky to have Le Prof in charge rather than Kenny the clown, who in my opinion has taken the club back to where it was when he took charge. Mediocrity.

What a pathetic article from a bitter wool. Arsenal are nothing without RVP. They’d be mid table without him. Liverpool have systematically outplayed Arsneal in both league games this year as they have a lot of teams this seasons without having the clinical edge. That will come in the summer. It will be addressed. Arsenal are a team in decline. no midfield , a defense that can’t defend for toffee. what a joker you are. Biased horse manure.

Did you watch Arsenal Spurs last week?

That really is tired as song. Last I checked most of RvP’s goals are 3-9 yards out which means SOMEONE with red n white shirt fed it to him – meaning more than 1 man team. If Robin was scoring from 30-50 yard dribbles a-la Ronaldo (not CR7) then you spewmeisters might have point. End of.

@Adam. Pls notice my name. Thanks

Nice article & I agree with every point, except 2. RVP is great, but the biggest difference is between the capability of 2 men sitting on the Managers seat.

& I add a sixth one, after having a look at the Gunner’s squad (Some of the best youths in the world are there) & the British garbage that KD purchased paying multiple times, I bet Wenger ‘ll win the EPL once more at least, before bowing out, while KD ‘ll be sacked, unless he steps down with respect (on personal grounds) after taking us to permanently at mid table & lower down to relegation battle.

We spent over 60mn net, on already a very good squad & Arsene had a net gain & still we LFC fans are recalling 70s & 80s. Please come to reality & give respect where its due.

Do you trawl Gooner blogs looking for slights on your beloved ‘pool, charlie? Your club has become an international disgrace with your dinosaur, alcoholic, drug kingpin of a manager follwoing the public display of condoning racism. From engaging in the misguided support of the goofy toothed professional cheat (ask Ghana) to kenny’s disastrous interviews, everything about the once great institution was dragged through the dirt by a combination of kenneth’s disastrous spending policy to the mishandling of the scum suarez affair, to the inbred middleaged neanderthal mimicking a monkey in the cup game. Try taking the forest out of your own eye before talking about the splinter in ours. It’s a shame, but where once I might have given flying one about Liverpool, you can’t even get your poxy strikers to be bothered to score against anybody. Suarez is a diving cheat and henderson knew what the fuck he was doing so here’s hoping he gets a taste some time soon, the c***:

Arsenal would be nothing without RVP? Isn’t that the point??? We have him, he’s one of our players so suck it up and admit your worse off! People said we would be nothing without Henry, they said the same when Bergkamp retired and Viera left, we may not have won Mickey mouse cups against championship teams but we constantly finish top 4 and don’t spend millions on worthless footballers like Henderson and Carroll. Check out the table Liverpool fans check it out!

Too bad Arsenal can’t even win the Mickey Mouse Cup eh? And if you haven’t realised when Kenny took over Liverpool was looking at relegation.

As for the game Arsenal won yes but Liverpool was arguably the better team. Even RVP said so. But i don’t begrudge Arsenal that. These things happen and luck favors the brave.

But there is no doubting Wenger is a good manager. I like him lots, unlike some Arsenal fans who wants his head. Lol.

Your slamming of Kenny is pathetic though.

Those mickymouth LP fans i know they will like to have RVP+AS+SAG in their squad sssh KOSENY to help them score goals. Then we will call LP one man team.

  9. King Kenny

    You lot are mugs.

    1. Liverpool have not “systematically outplayed” Arsenal over 180 minutes this season. Helped by Frimpong’s red card and an OG to win at the Emirates and beaten on their own patch.

    2. One thing we didn’t learn on Saturday because it’s been known for over a decade, but worth mentioning… Jamie Carragher dealing with headers is quite embarrassing. Carragher was the only player who could have let RvP score that first goal.

    3. RvP is great. He has 2 goals from outside the area including that solo effort v Spurs the other week. 2 penalties also ensures me they’re not all from 3-9 yards 😉
