Arsenal have rewarded Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Rosicky for his recent good form and return to fitness by giving him a new contract at the Emirates.

Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Tomas Rosicky has signed a new contract with the club.

Rosicky’s contract was due to expire in the summer and there were doubts over whether the 31-year-old would be offered a new deal after an injury-plagued time at the Emirates has seen him make just 156 appearances since he joined the club in 2006.

However, the Czech Republic captain has returned to fitness this season, managing 28 games so far, and has found some of his past form in recent weeks, scoring against both AC Milan and Tottenham.

He has now been rewarded for his efforts with a new deal, as confirmed on Arsenal.com today, and Rosicky has expressed his delight at committing his future to the Gunners. Speaking to Arsenal.com, Tomas said:

“It’s a great honour to sign a new deal with Arsenal, I love the Club and am proud to wear the Arsenal shirt. It’s felt like home since I arrived six years ago and I couldn’t be happier to commit my future to the team.

“The manager, my team-mates, the staff and the supporters – everyone plays their part in making this a great Club, and I feel privileged to be a part of it. I believe we have a really talented group of players and, together with the manager, the future looks bright. It’s always been my goal to win trophies here at Arsenal, and I will fight hard to achieve my dreams here.”

Congratulations Tomas, let’s hope you’ve put your injury problems behind you and can build upon your recent good form!
