That’s that then…Cesc Fabregas is staying at Arsenal!

Cesc Fabregas

By Fab4.

Barcelona’s new president Sandro Rosell has given Arsenal fans some great news by declaring he will not spend €50-60m to sign Cesc Fabregas. If Rosell is true to his word, Cesc will be an Arsenal player next year because Arsenal would be insane to sell him for less.

Rosell told El Mundo Deportivo:

“The Cesc issue has been made very public and has been complicated because a lot of expectations have been put on the purchase price,”

“But we will not pay 50-60 million for Cesc.”

Having already rejected at least two bids in the region of €35m, Arsenal have remained firm in their stance that they don’t want to sell their captain despite Barca’s despicable public pursuit. (still no word from FIFA about tapping up? Didn’t think so!) Now Rosell has basically told us what his top price will be, and given the current transfer market conditions where Ronaldo is worth €100m, Kaka €80m, Torres possibly €75m and Adebayor €33m, then Fabregas is certainly worth €50-60m.

Some media outlets are claiming Rosell is sending out a ‘warning to Arsenal’. How exactly is that a warning? If they won’t pay what we want and what Cesc is worth, and considering Arsenal have made it clear they don’t want to sell, it will be perfect for the Gunners to hear. No more discussions, no more ‘Barca is in Cesc’s DNA’ bollocks, no more pathetic attempts by Barca players to lure him and no more bids. Case closed!

I don’t understand where Barca get-off thinking they are the ones who are setting the price. Arsenal are holding all the cards and they will pay what we want them to pay. Arsenal should come out with a very clear statement in reply to Rosell thanking them for their interest but if they aren’t willing to submit a sensible offer could they kindly p*ss off!

well written, i think it says it all really..and it should prove somthing to cesc aswell..if barcelona really rated you as one of the best as they say – they would have no qualms on splashing out 50-60mil like they did for ibrahimovic..
Barcelona are just interested in gettn the name, not the talent.c’mon cesc, u can hardly get a game for spain cos xavi, iniesta and busquest(somehow) keep u out..thats the future at barca mate….

Couldn’t put it in better words myself.

We should start absurd rumours saying Messi has Arsenal in his blood.

Barca need to f*ck off already…

Absolutely spot on! At the start of this nonsensical non-transfer story, Arsenal were approached by Barca with a laughable bid which was firmly rejected. NO SALE NO NEGOCIATION. Rosell has now set a laughable figure as to our Captains value. After Arsenal’s initial and ONLY response, does he really think The Mighty Arsenal are now going to roll over and say “Oh Senor Rosell, of course you can have our Captain for a bargain basement price, we fully understand that you Club and your Country is heading down the toilet. Oh and as an extra sweetener, don’t worry about the money you STILL owe us for Hleb and Henry, we will write off that debt”.

I think Barca have come out very badly in this whole dragged out saga. They were talking a big game but at the end of the day, they can not afford to even make a respectable bid and aren’t really the big club they thought they were. They have used very underhand tactics in order to unsettle the player and his family. it has all back-fired. I just hope Cesc can re-focus on playing for Arsenal. Barca should be ashamed of themselves. If they really had care for Cesc and his DNA they could have handled the whole affair better. Now there are no winners. Barca were always my Spanish team but that Barca shirt has stayed in my wardrobe since they started this Cesc campaign and it will now stay there. Who can Arsenal fans “twin” with now in Spain – any suggestions.

      @ Galtee Gunner

Same here mate, i used to love Barca in the Rivaldo/Ronaldo days.

Valencia are a good shout for Arsenal’s ‘twin’. They won La Liga in 02 & 04, the same years we won the prem. So we should cheer Valencia as when they win the league…so do we!

Plus, they sell there best players to Barca!

Valencia have always been my spanish team 🙂

Yeah, for some reason, Valencia had crossed my mind. A good high profile club that doesn’t seem to have the arrogance that comes with Barca and Real. I have a soft spot for Atletico Madrid as well, with our old buddy Reyes showing flashes of his old Arsenal days

yeh Barca used to be my Spanish team but nowadays I also have a soft spot for Atletico Madrid. They really are a class team with players like Aguero, Forlan, Simao. I hope Merida becomes a player Arsenal may consider signing back in a few years but not in the way Barca have approached Fabregas.

I beg to differ. Arsenal should not respond. Period.
If Arsenal says they wont sell the player under 50 Mill, it naturally raises the question “then at what price”. Which I think we are not obliged to answer… Why get in the fuss. If he doesnt want to pay 50 Mill for Cesc, good for him.
I think we have made it clear that we wont negotiate or make a counter offer.. let Barca keep up their extempore of what they wont pay. If they want cesc, first let them stop mouthing off about his DNA and be respectable and come to a table with an intention of discussing a deal.

Unfortunatley for barca supporters and guileme balague, joan laporta was running barcelona like a hugo chavez venezuela oil company. its not exactly that rosell does not covert cesc, but the reality as it stands says ‘near empty coffers’ at barca!

I wish this was true. The reality is that Cesc wants to leave and Barca know that he will only go to Barca which means that Arsenal can not use other bids to hike the price. Whether Cesc is at Arsenal next season will be determined by how badly he wants to leave and whether his desire to leave leads to him to submit a transfer request. I believe Barca are putting pressure on Cesc to submit a transfer request because they know that if he does, Arsenal will probably let him go. Barca won’t pay £50-60m as they know it’s a closed market ie. Cesc will only go to them and also they can’t afford it. Arsenal should report them to FIFA. The entire public pursuit has been a strategy set by Joan Laporta and implemented by the players and Guillem Balague with their public comments. They knew that this summer was their best opportunity with Cesc away with the players for 6 weeks.

Both writer and most responses seem to have missed the point entirely. Only one bid has been made, at this point Arsenal made it very clear, Cesc is, “not for sale”, no price has ever been put on Cesc because he’s, “not for sale”. Arsenal need not make any statement/reponse because he’s, “not for sale”. Yes it could change if Cesc comes out and says he wants to leave Arsenal now but, until then no point in talking about it because guess what he’s, “not for sale”.

‘The issue is so public that I can assure you that I will try to talk to him on the trip to South Africa. The whole world knows that he wants to come and that the club wants him,’ Rosell said.

Pray how can that not be interpreted as tapping up???

£49m is still a good price and would let us buy Gourcuff, Vertonghen, and few others

i want cesc to stay out of the saga and should always show up to deny any speculation from the barca players. i belive this can help the hell called barca president know our skipper’s worth rather dan talking of some foolish millions of pounds.

Cesc would play regularly at Barcelona. They would find a spot for him somewhere. He wouldn’t be the captain and the stand-out that he is at Arsenal, at least not for several years.

why is this saga still going on? barcelona want cesc, cesc wants to leave arsenal, barca wont pay over the odds for him.HES NOT FOR SALE! why dont they just piss off and leave us and our captain alone.

I am amazed that Rosell can somehow claim that The Mighty Arsenal are “bullying” poor little barca over his valuation of the best midfield player in Europe. What a cretin! If Cesc were to put in a transfer request, highly unlikely, in my opinion, The Mighty Arsenal would either REFUSE – he signed a contract just recently until 2015- or worst case scenario accept and place him on the open market to at least get a price relative to his true value. In that event, it would be hilarious if Real offered £80 million, The Mighty Arsenal accepted and Cesc refused to leave. Arsenal hold all the aces, Barca have resorted to sad, desperate and disgraceful tactics. Are you watching UEFA/FIFA, they are breaking your rules on a daily basis?

I’m an everton fan but those twats at Barcelona piss us all off. I’d bid £15m for messi, or swap for xavi and iniesta.
