QPR vs Liverpool: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Liverpool take on struggling Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Wednesday night. Here’s team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the big game.

Kenny Dalglish

Liverpool take on struggling Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road tonight looking to keep alive their slim hopes of securing Champions League football next season. Rangers have only won one Premier League match  since Mark Hughes took charge, so as Liverpool’s American owners would say; ‘the soccer odds are pointing to an away win tonight!’.

Their poor run has seen QPR nosedive in recent weeks and they currently find themselves level on points with Wolves and Wigan at the foot of the table. Liverpool are seventh and a full ten points off fourth-placed Arsenal, so if Kenny Dalglish’s men have any desire to be playing Champions League football next season, three points are vital at Loftus Road.

Team News

Mark Hughes may recall Adel Taarabt to the starting line-up after the midfielder recovered form a slight knock. Shaun Derry is likely to be the man to make way.

Alejandro Faurlin and Heidar Helguson remain out with long-term injuries while on-loan AC Milan full back Taye Taiwo is pushing for a start but it’s likely Armand Traore will continue at left back.

January signings Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamoro should continue their partnership up front.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish must decide whether to rotate his side after back-to-back victories over Everton and Stoke. Dirk Kuyt, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam are all pushing for recalls.

Daniel Agger is closing in on a comeback from his rib injury, while Glen Johnson is also close to a return from a hamstring strain, but tonights game will come too soon for both. Sky Sports also believe that Craig Bellamy will also be out after missing the last two games through injury.

Predicted Score

No win in six for QPR, only one win in their last sixteen Premier League matches. They must halt this disastrous run of results soon or relegation will become a distinct reality. However, Liverpool were in great form against Everton last week and ground out a hard-faught victory over Stoke on Sunday, so come into the game full of confidence.

Steven Gerrard bagged a hat-trick against the Toffees and if he’s in that kind of mood again tonight, QPR won’t be able to handle him. The only good news for the home side is that Liverpool’s recent away form is poor, having lost four of their last five on their travels.

However, i can’t see past a Liverpool win here. QPR 0-2 Liverpool.
