Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he is already making moves in the transfer market, but remains focussed on finishing the Premier League season as strongly as possible.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a number of players in recent months, with Wenger thought to be finally ready to cut the deadwood from his squad and bring in more established stars.

The Gunners have already agreed a £10.9m deal to sign German striker Lukas Podolski (source: The Sun) from FC Koln, and several fringe players such as Marouanne Chamakh, Carlos Vela, Denilson and Manuel Almunia will be allowed to leave this summer.

Now Wenger has confirmed he has already begun his summer transfer dealings, but insists he wont let it affect him or his squad from an important Premier League run in, which currently see’s the Gunners in a four-way battle for a top-four finish. He told Arsenal.com:

“Things are starting now [in terms of transfers],” he told Arsenal Player.

“At the moment we are so focused on finishing the season well, though, because what we have done over the past two months is absolutely exceptional.

“It would be stupid not to finish the job now because we have put ourselves back in a strong position. To finish the season well demands a complete focus on our performances and that is what will do.

“We will prepare for next season and the credit we will get for this season will depend on how we finish.”
