PFA Player of the Year Award Nominees Announced: Top Sides Dominate Again
The PFA player of the year and young player of the year nominations have been announced today, and as usual it’s the top sides that dominate the nominations.
The PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year Award nominations have been announced by football.co.uk today, and as usual it’s the top sides that dominate.
Player of the Year Nominations
The Player of the Year nominations are in and Manchester City lead the way with three players on the list, while fellow top-four sides Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham all have one nomination:
- RVP (Arsenal)
- Rooney (Man Utd)
- Aguero (Man City)
- Silva (Man City)
- Hart (Man City)
- Parker (Tottenham)
Sergio Aguero and David Silva are rewarded for their fine seasons, while goalkeeper Joe Hart is also in the running after an impressive campaign between the sticks.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is also in the mix along with Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker, but the red hot favourite is Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. The Dutchman has netted an incredible 34 goals this season, 27 of which have come in the league.
Young Player Nominations
The Young Player of the Year nominations are also in and it bodes well for England, with four of those on the list pushing for a place in the England squad. The nominations are:
- Aguero (Man City)
- Bale (Tottenham)
- Walker (Tottenham)
- Ox-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
- Sturridge (Chelsea)
- Welbeck (Man Utd)
Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge, Man Utd’s Danny Welbeck and Tottenham’s Kyle Walker are all hoping to make the England squad for this summers European championships. They will battle Man City’s Sergio Aguero and Tottenham’s Gareth Bale for the young player of the year prize.
