Arsenal striker Robin van Persie watched Chelsea’s stunning 3-2 aggregate victory over Barcelona last night with Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

During the game, van Persie used his official Twitter account to tweet a picture (below) of him with the former Barcelona striker, as well as Arsenal team mates Andre Santos and Mikel Arteta, as they ate some food and watched the Blues pull off an unbelievable result to reach the Champions League final.

RVP with Ronaldo

It’s great to see the lads socialising like this. Sometimes in football you forget how important the off-the-field relationships are. Knowing that RVP gets on well with his team mates and goes out to eat with them should give us fans more confidence that he will stay at the club.

It’s also nice to see Andre Santos settling in well. He looks like he’s replacing Eboue as the club ‘joker’. He just seems to have that way about him, and every club needs characters like that.

Interesting that Ronaldo joined the Arsenal boys. Presumably Santos invited his compatriot along. Hopefully they weren’t trying to lure the 35-year-old out of retirement for a stint at the Emirates. He was a great player in his time and we could do with some striking reinforcements, but he wouldn’t last 2 minutes in the Premier League. Although, i’d probably take him over Chamakh!

Of course i’m joking, there was obviously nothing in the dinner other than friends watching the football and catching up, but you know how the media can be these days. Just look at the speculation that erupted after Van Persie went to see his friend at the Barca team hotel a couple of weeks ago.
