Liverpool are considering sending Andy Carroll out on loan next season as Kenny Dalglish looks to freshen up his striking options, according to the Metro.

The Reds have been shy in front of goal this season, managing just 40 league goals so far, and a new striker is the number one priority when the transfer window re-opens this summer.

The Metro claim that Dalglish has drawn up a three-man striker shortlist that includes Roberto Soldado, Fernando Llotente and David Texeira, with owner J.W. Henry ready to back his manager with substantial funds this summer.

The arrival of a new forward would cast doubt over the future of £35m flop Andy Carroll, with the report claiming that Dalglish is ready to send him out on loan to help him rediscover his past form. It’s also suggested that former Director of Football Damien Camolli told Dalglish to loan the 23-year-old out in January, but the Scot decided to give Carroll until the end of the season to prove himself.

The former Newcastle striker’s form has certainly improved in recent weeks, netting two vital goals in his last three games, including an FA Cup semi final winner against Everton. However, it looks like if King Kenny can land one of his top targets, the former England international will be allowed to leave Anfield at least until the New Year.
