Chelsea are lining up a summer move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the La Liga giants keen on replacing him with Man City’s Sergio Aguero, according to the Sun.

The Blues could see their attacking options diminish this summer as Didier Drogba is likely to leave the Champions League finalists on a free transfer, while there are also doubts over the future of fellow Ivorian attacker Saloman Kalou, who is also out of contract in June.

Nicolas Anelka has already left the club, so Roman Abramovich is ready to get the cheque book out and revamp the Londoners striking options for next season.

According to the Sun, the Russian billionaire has identified Manchester City target Gonzalo Higuain as the man to solve their striking problems, and is lining up a bid for the £35m-rated striker. A Chelsea ‘source’ told the newspaper:

“Higuain is top of the shopping list.

“He has a phenomenal goalscoring record for Real and for Argentina but he helps make lots of goals too.

“He would be perfect for us, the sort of player who would thrive in the Premier League.”

It’s suggested that Real Madrid will try to sign Man City striker Sergio Aguero and are willing to sell Higuain in order to fund their move. The Argentine hitman has netted an impressive goal-scoring ratio in Spain, netting 102 goals in just 217 games, while he’s also contributed with 35 assists.

What do you think Chelsea fans? Would you like to see Higuain at the Bridge?
