Chelsea have revealed some exciting news this afternoon with regards to the clubs stadium plans, after announcing they have submitted a bid to build a new 60,000 seater stadium at the Battersea Power Plant site.

Chelsea have previously been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with the need for a bigger stadium clear for all to see. Many locations have been looked over however news comes from the Bridge today that the club has, together with it’s property development partners Almacantar, submitted plans for a stadium to be built at the Battersea power plant.

A statement on Chelseafc.com read:

”Chelsea Football Club can confirm to our fans that we have today submitted an offer, with our property development partner Almacantar, to acquire the 39-acre Battersea Power Station site.

Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most famous buildings and has the potential to become one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world.’

Working with architects and planning experts we have developed a plan to preserve all the significant aspects of Battersea Power Station. The four iconic chimneys and wash towers along with the Grade II* listed west turbine hall and control room will be restored and retained in their original locations and provide a unique architectural backdrop to a world-class stadium with a capacity of around 60,000 seats.”

So what do we all think about this news?  Personally I’m buzzing, it should be incredible if we can pull it off. Let me know your views in the comments section below.
