Chelsea Fan Favourite Set For £30m La Liga Move?

Barcelona are lining up a £30m move for Chelsea defender David Luiz this summer, according to the Mirror.

Barca have had a disappointing season by their high standards, losing out on the La Liga title to Real Madrid and being knocked out of the Champions League at the semi final stages by Chelsea.

The Mirror claim the Catalans will undergo a summer of rebuilding and are keen to add a centre-back, left-back and striker to their ranks, with Luiz believed to be their No.1 central defensive target and Valencia’s Jordi Alba seen as a realistic option to replace Eric Abidal at left-back.

Luiz joined Chelsea for £24m and has endured mixed fortunes at Stamford Bridge during his 15 months in West London. The former Benfica stopper came under scrutiny from football pundits who questioned his defensive abilities, but after a difficult start under AVB, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life under Roberto Di Matteo and has become a firm fan favourite with the Blues faithful.

However, the Mirror believe Barca are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve with a £30m bid this summer and are willing to sell Seydou Keita and Ibrahim Afellay to fund the move.

No longer thiago silva bt david luiz! It’s great news knowing that the services of one of chelsea’s player is needed @barcelona…bt it’l b greater news 4 barcelona if they knw that chelsea is not an academy, and moreover not in the history of d club to sell a 1st team player; dat chelsea also wants to b best team in the world; that chelsea is building 4 d future and has no intentions of selling its experienced young players to any club, for any price. So, it’s juz a wish dat’l neva come to be. I’d advise that they graduate one of their academy players…

It wil be very rare for a team to sell a first team player. It can only occur in situations were the club is financially handicapped. Barcelona plz dont play with fire! Back off! Even with Messi we are not givin U.

Tottaly agree with the comments, why would Chelsea even consider selling the fans favourite, to Barca one of our european arch rivals that we just eliminated in the champions league semi final. The funny thing about this artical is were do these people get their stories from, for a fact as Chelsea fans we know the club have never said anything and also we know Chelsea and Roman wont sell JT’S futre replacement at the age of 24. David himself loves Chelsea the fans and most of all he is settled in London.
    Keep the faith!!
Good luck to CFC on Sat i will be there cant wait.
    Come on the CHELS.

Luiz with Cahill; the Chelsea current and future. One area we certainly do not need to change is CB; we paid 24m for him for a reason. 6m profit by Chelsea standards is not sufficient and we’d have to fork out at least another 20m to find a suitable replacement; only got Cahill on the cheap as he had only 1 year left on his contract. Bolton wanted 18m for him 1 year ago so lets do the maths….go suck Barca

David luiz is not 4 sale. Barca should inject puyol so dat he wil b young nd strong again so dat he can continue 4rm wia he stop or if Barca stil insist, we can manage Messi, Iniesta, xavi nd even camp nou in exchange Ferriera, Turnbull or Hillario. Either of them not all of them. 4 Luiz he is not 4 sale.

Lol.What Luis mean to Chelsea is what messi mean to Barca. They say use what u have to get what u want: Give us Messi,Pedro,Thiago,Alves + 39.9M pounds, and give us time to think about it. true blues even in heaven. we don’t need Iniesta and Xavi, old age is worrying them. True blues, even in heaven
