Arsenal have received a fitness boost ahead of Sunday’s vital clash with West Brom with the news that Theo Walcott is set to return from injury.

Walcott was forced off with a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at the Emirates last month and it was initially feared he would be ruled out for the rest of the season.

However, the Telegraph report today that the 23-year-old has recovered quicker than expected and is on course to return to training by the end of the week, meaning he’ll be in contention to face WBA on Sunday at the Hawthorns.

The Gunners go into the final weekend of the season sitting in third, one point ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham, and victory would secure third place and ensure Champions League qualification for next season. If Arsene Wenger’s men fall short, they will open the door for Spurs, Newcastle and potentially even Chelsea.

It will be Roy Hodgson’s final game in charge of West Brom before he takes over his role as England boss, so if Walcott does play he may take the opportunity to cast an eye over the England hopeful before announcing his provisional squad for this summers European Championships.
