Agent: “It’s nice to hear that Arsenal are interested”
By Ross Mackiewicz.
Cristian Zapata’s agent has said it’s good that his client is being linked to prestigious clubs like Arsenal, but insists that he has received no offers from any interested parties. The 23 year old Udinese defender has been linked with a move to North London as Arsene Wenger restructures his defence ahead of the new season. With William Gallas, Sol Campbell, Mikael Silvestre and Phillipe Senderos departing the club it has left The Gunners vulnerable in that department. They have already completed the signing of Laurent Koscielny and are looking to bolster their options with Zapata reportedly high on Wenger’s shopping list.
However his agent Massimo Italiani claims that he has received no offers from Arsenal or any other club.
“It’s nice to hear that Arsenal are interested in the player.” Italiani told calciomercato.com.
“For several years now, Zapata has been linked to prestigious clubs and that means that he is doing things well.”
“Several Italian clubs are also interested in Zapata but for the time being, I have not received any offers from Italy or England.”
Italiani went onto to say that his client would open to a move from the Stadio Friuli if a lucrative opportunity arose.
“He is happy at Udinese but like any other player, he wants to improve and grow.” he said.
“If an offer from a big club arrives, then it will be taken into consideration. But for the time being there is nothing official, just rumours.”
Zapata has been with the Serie A outfit for five years where he has made 127 appearances. He has been used as a centre back in the last twelve months by The Zebrette but can also play as a full back on either side proving his versatility.
Do you think Zapata would be a good addition to the Arsenal dressing room? Let us know.
