Chelsea are leading Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign Partizan Belgrade’s Lazar Markovic, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims that former Blues manager and current Belgrade coach Avram Grant, has recommended Markovic to Chelsea officials and the West Londoners have become keen on the attacking midfielder, who is also being tracked by both Liverpool and Tottenham in recent months.
However, Belgrade value Markovic at £16 million and would also like the 18-year-old back on loan for another season in order for the player to continue his development.
Markovic is an exciting attacking midfielder who burst on to the scene in his homeland aged just 17 and has become an important part of the Partizan side, playing just behind the striker. He has clocked-up 31 appearances this season, scoring 7 goals, and his impressive form won him Partizan’s Player of the Year award and he also earned his first international call up in February during Serbia’s game against Armenia.
