Hazard - four to choose from

Lille have confirmed that four clubs are in the running to sign highly-rated winger Eden Hazard this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

Hazard has become one of the most sought-after players in world football after another eye-catching season in Ligue 1, where he was named the Player of the Year for the second season in a row.

The 21-year-old will be leaving the former French champions this summer to move to the Premier League and ended his Lille career in style on Sunday, bagging a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Nancy.

The player was expected to announce his next club after the game last night. However, no announcement was made after the the Belgian revealed he is still mulling over his options and Lille’s managing director, Frederic Paquet, has claimed that four clubs are in the running for his signature.

“I am not sure he knows [who he will sign for] himself where he will go, so for the moment, we don’t know,” he told Sky Sports NewsHD.

“From my knowledge he has four teams interested in buying him.

“It is not up to us to tell to him [where to go].

“We have a very strong relationship with the player, we will work together and are waiting for him to make a choice between these four teams.”

Sky Sports report that both Man City and Man Utd are leading the chase, while Chelsea are also understood to be among the clubs to have registered their interest, but it’s unclear who the fourth side is.

It’s highly likely that the mystery club is either Arsenal or Tottenham, but the North London duo will struggle to compete on a financial level with City, Utd or Chelsea, while Spurs may also find it difficult to attract Hazard to White Hart Lane after cruelly missing out on Champions League football next season.

So Hazard’s future is still up in the air but we’ll keep you up-to-date on how’s things progress in the coming days and weeks.
