Vertonghen Ready To Submit Transfer Request To Force Through Move

Vertonghen wants Spurs move

Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen is willing to submit a transfer request to force through a move to Tottenham, according to Goal.com.

Vertonghen has been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham in recent months and the Mirror reported over the weekend that Spurs were working hard to try and beat their rivals to the Belgians signature.

Goal.com have backed this up by suggesting that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has today flown out to Amsterdam to hold face-to-face talks and try to thrash out a deal for the defender. It’s believed that Ajax are holding out for around £12m, while Spurs have so far only offered around £8m, for the 25-year-old who only has a year remaining on his current contract.

However, the report also claims that Vertonghen has made it clear that he is only interested in a move to Tottenham and is willing to hand in a transfer request in order to help push through the deal. Goal claim that the centre back has already agreed personal terms with Spurs after meeting with club officials at White Hart Lane following Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Fulham on the final day of the season.

It’s also suggested that the player is not put off by the fact Spurs have missed out on Champions League football next season and has made the decision to join Harry Redknapp’s men due to the fact he’s been guaranteed first team football.

So it looks like Tottenham could be about to get one over their North London rivals and beat Arsenal to the signature of Hollands player of the Year. We’ll keep you up-to-date as this story develops.

If he wants to be a loser and play with a joke of a team of chokers, it will be spurs, if he wants to play for the best team in north London for 18 years in a row it will be Arsenal, tough choice….. Not!

yeah… really showed how much better than spurs you were all the way upto the last half of the last game when you gooners were crapping yourselves & what with your best player leaving in the summer… you’ll be fighting it out mid table with chelski..

If he wants to join a team who sells all their best players to Man City and replaces them with average players then join Arsenal. RVP will be off very soon, I’m sure that will tilt Vertonghen into joing Arsenal. Maybe he would join Spurs and be part of a team that is getting better every season and is about to open the best training facilities in Europe.

Ha ha ha ha, that’s really funny. I can actually remember the days when we really were rivals – it was sooooooooooo long ago though.
If he wants to join a team of noisy “once upon a time we were in the Champions League” then I guess Spurs is the place – if however he actually wants to play in it every year then look elsewhere my friend

Well, I am not saying anything about spurs they have really caught up in the top end of the prem.

But if he is good enough he would win a place in the Arsenal first team, surely he believes he can overturn koscielny or even vermalean???

If he don’t, then we don’t want him!

You earn a first team spot, you don’t command one!

    Simple.

Mark mark mark u really need to get real maybe if u were to be brought down to clean the cob-webs off ar5ena1’s trophy cabinet that would help in ur quest to join the real world. Remember the name of the game is not just to finish above Spurs its more about winning competitions and trophies which u have not done for 7 YEARS, best team in london lol.

why can’t other fans just accept that he has made his decision and that is spurs! we have a great squad and with a few signings we will be challenging season Im season out!…. we have one of the best training facilities in Europe i don’t care if Arsenal have had one for 6 years we have got one now! he has made his choice get over it!!!!

Well its a testament to how far Spurs have gone to say that Arsenal celebrated finishing one point above us like winning a trophy. We played more attractive football all season, and you had to rely on a dodgy goalkeeper to help you out on the final day. Good luck relying on van Persie next season as well when hes off to Spain lol.

It shows the character of the lad and fair play to him. As for Arsenal and the CL. You will be joining us in the Europa before you can say “we miss RVP so much” You should thank Martin Fulop for your 3rd spot. The baggies were all over you and then Grobellar part II Fulop saves the day. I have never seen such a deliberate display of goalkeeping in my life. Sure you could see Hodgsons slithery smile at Wenger when they shook hands at the end. Well done goons, awesome !!!

hahahah…how about the fact arsenals worst team in 10-12 years vs spurs best team for a long while and we still finish above u!and ur talking about fulop..u had a 12 points lead over us and had 2 goal lead at the emirates what hapened then?yes we had our best players leave us but even after all that we finish above u…do i need to say anything else?

      May 21, 2012 at 9:01 pm

We we would also like to thank the tiny totts as well as Martin, where apparently he received most of his trainig, when in your squad. Also I enjoyed your very exciting football at the Emirates 2 goals up and you lost 5.2, another great memory.

To be fair Chelsea should not have got the other spot coz over a season spurs deserved it! It’s criminal what uefa have done ! But us gooners are thanking your inept manager for constriving to fuck your season up for you

Gunners are gunning for major triphy now while Spuds are simply barking.

Tissiam I do not suffer from Paranoia in the slightest. You clearly didn’t see the game, if you call that paranoia, then you must be deluded. They were the 3 worst howlers in any one game i’ve seen. No sour grapes you just got a helping hand….or hands as it were 🙂

He hasn’t been guaranteed anything. No player is guaranteed a spot in the side. He has agreed terms on more than double what he was on at Ajax and says he is unlikely to be forced to play out of position as often at Spurs than if he was at Arsenal as they have a better squad.

  22. Dublin Yid

    May 21, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Better Squad ? I don’t think so. As I said earlier see you in the Europa after you get the boot from the CL in the group stages.

haha spuds, Why do u talk about 1 point of the final game? we came in a resurgent power from 12 points behined to beat u in style and left u in dillema with a broken back bone! While we were in contineouse resurgns u were in strugle to come back after we gunned u down with 5-2 victory…. As usual we secured our cl participation as we did it for the last 15 years in series, how much did spurs achieve this? Shame,….. Why do u talk about our 7 years with out silver, how many years is it sice spuds win title? Infact Arsenal is a big club while spuds only tit-tat rats!

If he desperately wants to go to Spurs…let him. I for one don’t want him for the Arsenal if he doesn’t want to play for the top team in London. Plus he is saying Spurs have “gauranteed him first team football,” well if he were good enough he wouldn’t fear this at Arsenal. If you wanna work hard and earn your place in the first team and play for the badge…welcome…but if you just want to get into the Premiership and have a free ride onto the first team…go to Spurs and keep lookin up!

Things are grouped in according to its kind. Dirty players play for dirty teams. So, gooner doesn’t suit Jan Vertonghen. He is such a classic player with characters and principles. Spurs will be his absolutely right choice.
