Arsenal Make Late Move For Eden Hazard

By on May 24, 2012

With the summer transfer window almost open, we’ll aim to keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today sees Arsenal named as the fourth club interested in signing Eden Hazard.

Hazard - wanted man

Arsenal are the mystery fourth team who are trying to sign Lille’s Eden Hazard, according to the Daily Star.

Hazard is set for a move to the Premier League this summer and after being linked with a whole host of clubs, it was thought his options had been narrowed down to Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea as his next destination.

However, Lille director Federic Paquet revealed earlier this week that there was now a mystery fourth club who were also in the running for his signature, and the Daily Star claim that club to be Arsenal.

The report says that Arsene Wenger is determined not to lose out on one of his long-term targets and has made late efforts to keep the Gunners in the hunt for the highly-rated winger. It’s thought the Frenchman is willing to pay the required £32m transfer fee but the major stumbling block could be the players £200,000-a-week wage demands.

However, Wenger remains hopeful that he could persuade Hazard to opt for Arsenal due to their ability to offer him first team football, something the player has hinted as being vitally important in his decision.

Football Talk Verdict

It’s been no secret that Arsene Wenger is a fan of the 21-year-old’s and the Gunners were linked with Hazard last summer, but i really think the Star is just putting 2 & 2 together and getting 5 here.

It’s difficult enough to see Wenger splashing £30m on a single player, never mind having to contend with the likes of City, United and Chelsea for wages, etc.

Perhaps Arsenal are trying their luck but i’d be majorly shocked if Hazard ended up in North London this summer. The good thing is the player has promised to make his decision by the 2nd June, so we can finally put an end to all the speculation.

obviously not to arsenal. wenger will always opt for 2 than a single signing for 30millions. dont think we need eden for that prize bring 2 arteta like players. that will be the right strategy.

Mmmmmmmmm….the Star as a fount of inside information? Never gonna happen.
I dont think for a minute Hazard will come to Arsenal, but we should still try for them, if nothing else than to put the price up for other teams. You never know FFP rules may work in our favour eventually and drop some big talents on our doorstep.

      You’re so dumb.

You really expect us to start making formal bids for players to drive their prices up?

I see why you call yourself barndoor Ben. But you typod “barndoor”. You meant to write “backdoor”, didn’t you?

Why can’t you see arsenal paying £30 mill we offered £25 mill last summer for three different players including hazard I don’t see money being the problem it’s just whether gazidis believes spending that amount of money on one player will be worth it and we all should know how long he takes to men these kind of decisions think back to when we bid £25 mill for gotze last summer we were linked with him for all of the season before and we made the bid at the end of the transfer window. It is the same with the gervinho capture it took to long to sign him.

Why do people term arsenal and transfer targets of this magnitude as impossible? Arsenal always choice not to spend but still we are the 5th richest club in the world ahead of chelsea and man city. I feel hazard to arsenal can be possible for 2 things
1.To show a statement of intent and ambition of the club to RVP
2.Hazard would get playing time and would be the main man to anchor that midfield with Wilshere/Arterta

LOL just because you have a rich owner does not mean your crap clubs worth more than the mighty Arsenal, we have Usmanov as our 2nd majority shareholder who is the richest man in Russia & twice as rich as Abrahimvic. You can buy quality but you can’t buy class.

6th position in the “rich list” we may be, but tell me who ended 6th in the Prem? And don’t talk to me about winning the Champions League. Chelsea won it by sheer luck, and are probably the worst ever team to be called Champions of Europe.

You Chav clowns really lack any class whatsoever.

This is to show we’re trying to sign a big name to keep the fans happy.knowing we have no chance of signing him.we pay 10-15m for players not 30m.sorry gunners this is a fact.can’t see why we can’t sign m’villa for 17m but can pay 50-60k a week on they poor players.something is wrong.

It’s all sounding too familiar again, remember arsenal signing chamack early, reason was
to get season tickets sold, prob gonna be same scenario with podolski signing (I hope not!)

hazard will not came not arsenal as arsenal has not abition wenger will not give 30mil on 1 player and also he will not pay a player over 125000$ per week but his his salary is high better than any player

as i recall there was 25million pound bids for certain players last year think hazard and gotze, problem is even if this is true we cant afford his 200k (if those are accurate) the most we can offer him is a multilingual coach who is well renowned on the continent and probably more so then the other 3 teams a greater likely hood of first team football.

However in saying that I dont fully believe its going to happen we do however really need some massive ego on the pitch to get at the other teams and as it stands hazard is frightening for other defenders.

I think we should be less concerned about Eden Hazard, and more about the state of schooling.
I have never read so much illiterate rubbish.

we have a hole in our midfield after Fabregas departure.we simply don’t have enough creativity.that’s why we need someone like Hazard,a creative midfielder.but i won’t kill for Hazard as long as we keep looking for a worthy creative midfielder whoever he might be.Wenger please just find some one like Fabregas/Gotze/Ozil/silva…i like those kind of players.

cant see arsene wenger paying over 100k wages for unproven 21yr old in the EPL, i can how ever see him paying 25mil for this player as it would encourage rvp to sign on and the risk isn’t that large due to his age, whats the worse that can happen he turns out to b average ie gets unhappy at arsenal then we sell him for at-least 15mil and thts the worst case scenario, i think its well worth the gamble if eden hazard is willing to accept 100k a wk… if this happened along with a cb an dm an the dead wood out i will b very excited for next season… ps would love to see us swoop a playmaker thought

well i have been an arsenal fan for 5 years but to be honest…> i don’t think we would sign a 12m + player any more!!! gunners fans wil have to understand that this board has no ambition,no man-magement and just want to do enough to keep their blind followers/fans happy!van persie wil is leaving and vdon’t even think of this this talented lad coming to arsenal!:(

Being a Gooner, I would like to see us move for him, but £32 million, won’t happen.
I can’t see anyone being able to offer higher wages than Manchester City.

All arsenal fans are the same. If Chelsea got knocked out in the same stage arsenal did in the CL. Id put my house on Chelsea finish long third in the BPL. Only f’ing logical that saving players was the reason for finishing so far behind. ChelseA were missing 4 important players and still won because of team spirit. You make your own luck you dumbasses

I would absolutely LOVE to see Hazard at the Emirates, but I see it highly unlikely. his pricetag is double the amount that Wenger has ever payed for one player, and his expected wages are double than what we have been paying RVP. Unfortunately the only probable destination is City. I am hoping with the pick-up of Hazard, City will loosen there interest in Van Persie

On June 3rd we will all be checking the rumor sites and Arsenal will have won the sweepstakes for Hazard, Hazard himself likes Arsenal and has come to the Emirates to watch us play, he knows we have champions league and first team football for him, Arsenal need a statement signing for RVP, Arsenal have been linked with him for years and came to an agreement last summer with a 28M bid that wasn’t concluded on deadline day. Arsenal have the money and the wages demanded are actually around 110 a week, If Arsenal isn’t the club I fully expect it to be City, but that’s it.

    Easily possible.
Charlie Nicholas was just as sought after , as was Gazza. Arsenal got Nicholas and spurs got Gazza.
London is a massive draw over Manchester.
Chelsea have no manager so who knows if the new man will want him. We also have Wenger who clearly rates him plus if rvp stays it will like having his replacement’s fee available. London vermarlen Wenger first team football and a fortune in wages
Defo possible. Stupid to think otherwise.
