Yann M’Vila’s Proposed Move To Arsenal Under Threat?

Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila’s proposed move to Arsenal could be in jeopardy after the player picked up an ankle injury during France’s 2-0 win over Serbia.

Arsenal target Yann M’Vila faces an anxious wait to see if his Euro 2012 dreams are over, after being forced off with an ankle injury during France’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday night.

The Rennes midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, with sources such as the Telegraph suggesting we were close to tying up a £17.7m deal as long as we qualified for the Champions League. But a deal still hasn’t been confirmed and it was then claimed by the Metro that the 21-year-old had delayed finalising the move until after this summers European championships, presumably hoping a good show would push his value up and he’d be able to demand higher wages, or perhaps invite offers from some ‘bigger’ clubs.

However, this move could have backfired after last nights injury. If scans show serious damage to the ankle, M’Vila could be out of action for months and that would seriously jeopardise a summer move. He wouldn’t be able to undergo a full medical for a start, and it’s rare a club will pay substantial fees for an injured player. M’Vila said after the game that he had a similar injury earlier in his career and he was in plaster for 2 months, so he wasn’t sounding optimistic of an early return.

Below is a video of M’Vila picking up the injury. He turned his right ankle early in the game and limped off before crying on the bench. At this stage it looked certain his Euro dreams were over, but after an hour of treatment in the dressing room he emerged to take his place on the France bench with his ankle heavily strapped.

Hopefully the scans come back positive and the injury is not a serious one. Perhaps the ideal situation for Arsenal fans is that the injury is a simple sprain and he’s ruled out for 3-4 weeks, and he misses the Euro’s? That way, M’Vila won’t have the opportunity to shine this summer and attract bids from the likes of Man City or Chelsea, and his value won’t sky rocket, leaving Arsenal clear to snap him up.

Not that i’m wishing for a young player to be injured and miss a big tournament but it would have it’s side benefits for Arsenal. And  i’d love to see him move to North London this summer as i think he’d be a great addition to the Gunners squad.

Picking up an injury in a meaningless international friendly? It’s like your an Arsenal player already Yann!
