Arsenal Transfer News: German Midfielder Want’s ‘Massive’ Arsenal Move

The transfer window is now open. Today, a German international midfielder has admitted he would love to join Arsenal. Find out who the mystery player is here.

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news. Today, a German midfielder talks up a move to Arsenal.

Lewis Holtby

Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby has admitted he would love to join Premier League side Arsenal.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a switch the the Premiership due to the fact his father is English and he’s made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League one day.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Holtby admitted that should he make the move he would like to play for either Arsenal or Everton, but went on to claim a switch to the Gunners would be “massive” because they have always been his favourite side due to their attractive, attacking style of play.

“I have always said that my aim is to come to the Premier League one day because I love the league. My father is English and of course my favourite teams are Everton and Arsenal.

“It would be a massive move [to Arsenal] because Arsenal players were always my favourite. They play nice one-touch football, they’re offensive, have young players, a great stadium and a great city so it is a nice club.

“My thoughts now are first with Schalke but you never know.”

Holtby told talkSPORT.

Holtby has only recently made his mark at Schalke after spending two seasons out on loan at Bochun and Mainz. He was given his chance last season and made 27 appearances, scoring 6 goals, and has also broken into the German international set up.

At just 21 he certainly has plenty of time to develop in to a fine midfielder, however, he’s not going to be the marque signing many Gooners are crying out for.
