Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed his move to Barcelona has not been as smooth as some may have expected.

Fabregas is a product of the Barcelona youth academy but joined the Gunners as a 16-year-old in 2003. He went on to make 212 appearances for Arsenal before moving back to the Nou Camp last summer after eight years in North London.

Many heralded the move as a ‘home-coming’ for the Spaniard and playing in one of the best teams on the planet alongside the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, you’d be forgiven for thinking the switch would have been a simple one.

However, quoted in the Independent, Fabregas has revealed that he has found it tough being back at his boy-hood club. The 25-year-old claims he has found it hard to adapt, especially going from playing with complete freedom at Arsenal to having to play a more structured role in the Barca team, and revealed the struggles left him feeling “very worried” about the situation.

“It has been a radical change in my life and like it or not it is hard to adapt,” he said.

“I went from playing with complete freedom of movement to Barcelona where the game is more positional,” he added.

“It was a challenge and I went through a period where I was very worried about it.”

Fabregas made an excellent start to his Barcelona career but his form dipped during the second half of the season and he soon found himself on the bench for several key matches.
