Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar

Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has a buy-out clause of €20m, according to Schalke manager Horst Heldt.

talkSPORT report today that Manchester United have been tracking the 28-year-old for some time, while both Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to have shown interest in the player.

The Premier League trio will now have been alerted to the news that the prolific hitman could be snapped up for €20m (£17m) after club manager Horst Heldt revealed that the player has a buy-out clause inserted in to his contract.

Huntelaar scored an impressive 29 goals in 32 games to help Schalke finish third in the Bundesliga last season, and has always been a goal threat wherever he’s played. Career stats of 279 goals in 428 games tells its own story.

But speculation has been rife that he could be on the move again this summer and Heldt admitted his striker could go if a club comes in and triggers the clause. However, the Schalke boss practically ruled out a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona. Quoted by talkSPORT, he said:

“Huntelaar does have a €20 million buyout clause, and the rich club can afford it,”

“But, Klaas Jan has always stressed that he wants to be a champion. This he can be only with Real or Barcelona in Spain.

“I do not think he wants to go there. What would he do there? Since nothing more than the weather is better.”
